From Paderborn to Hilversum
Jeroen, Jan and René were going to make a little flying trip on Sunday, April 12 2015. As we could use some power, René and Maurits picked-up the Turbo Skylane at Paderborn-Lippstadt on Friday evening to fly it to Hilversum. At Hilversum, Maurits told the reporting office that we were going to stay until Monday, and that we were going to make some local flights during the weekend. We could settle the fees when we were going to leave. Veleda then arrived by car, and we went home.

Saturday
On Saturday morning -- the weather was good -- Veleda brought Maurits and René to Hilversum airfield. Maurits was with the glider club, and René was going for some local flying. Many members of the glider club were there, but after looking closely to the weather it was decided not to go flying that day. It would become windy and cloudy at the end of the morning, and it would not be worthwhile to take the planes and equipment to the field for only a flight or two. So we went home again.
In the afternoon René went to Amsterdam for the funeral of Dick, who had sadly passed away far too young. Dick was the founder and CEO of the company René had worked for in the 1990s. Following the ceremonies, we went to Amsterdam with a number of colleagues from the old days. We all had worked in the early phase of the company, and we had established some long-standing friendships. Jaco and Jaco and Noah's daughter Shereen were going to join René on Sunday morning for a little flight.

Local flight from Hilversum
On Sunday morning Maurits and René went to Hilversum. Maurits for glider flying, and René was first going to make a flight with Jaco and Shereen, and then with Jeroen and Jan in the afternoon. When Jaco and Shereen arrived, we went to the plane to make the trip. After the flight we had a coffee and we said good-bye.

At the end of the morning René received a phone call from Jeroen's wife that unfortunately Jeroen had an accident with his bike that morning, and that he had to go to hospital to check the injuries. When Jan arrived, René told him that Jeroen could not come, and we discussed the flight.
We decided to fly to Paderborn, and René filed a flightplan. We took a sight-seeing detour over the city of Münster, over the Möhnesee and along the Sauerland to Paderborn (see also the Münster and Ruhr dams trip reports). After the flight we drove back to Hilversum, where we arrived at around six o'clock.
