Be Semiconductor Industries sale of PBE stake
BE Semiconductor Industries N.V. on Friday announced the sale of its 30% equity interest in Possehl BESI Electronics N.V. on November 15, 2001 to Posselhl &, mbH for Eur 18.1 million cash. In connection with the transaction, BE Semiconductor anticipates that it will incur net non-cash charges of approximately Eur 7 million in the fourth quarter of 2001.

BE Semiconductor Industries N.V. today announced its financial results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2000. Net sales for the year ended December 31, 2000 increased 87.5% to Eur 198.0 million, compared to net sales of Eur 105.6 million in 1999. The Company's net income in 2000, excluding a one-time charge related to the Company's acquisition of RD Automation, was Eur 25.6 million compared to net income of Eur 2.4 million in 1999.

BESI buys US RD Automation
BE Semiconductor Industries said on Saturday it had acquired US firm RD Automation for USD 21.7 mln in cash. RD Automation, a private company located in Piscataway, New Jersey, makes equipment for flip chip die bonding, BESI said in a statement. Flip chip technology eliminates the need for conventional wire bonding by placing the contact points of the chip in direct contact with the packaged substrate, BESI said.

BE Semiconductors reported on Tuesday net profit for the second quarter of 2000 increased to EUR 5.7 mln, compared with EUR 218,000 for the second quarter of 1999. Sales increased from EUR 23.1 mln to EUR 44.3 mln. The company booked an operating profit of EUR 4.9 mln in the second quarter of 2000, compared with an operating loss of EUR 1.7 mln in the 1999 comparible period.

BE Semiconductors announced on Tuesday that its Dutch subsidiary, Meco Equipment, a supplier of plating systems, received 7 initial orders totalling approximately USD 2.5 mln from several customers for its so-called new singulation system (MISS) for chip scale grid array (CSBGA) devices. These orders are expected to be shipped in the fourth quarter of 1999 and first quarter of 2000, BESI said.

BE Semiconductor trumps rival for US order
BE Semiconductor Industries announced on Thursday that its Dutch subsidiary Fico, a 100% owned subsidiary of BE Semiconductor, received an important order for a BGA molding system from the assembly division of 'a large US semiconductor manufacturer'. Fico won this order in direct competition against one of its principal Japanese competitors, the company said. The value of the order is about NLG 1.5 mln. BE Semiconductor said there may be repeat orders.

BE Semiconductor announced that Focused Semiconductor Corp., a newly established joint venture in Hsinchu, Taiwan, has placed an USD 8 mln order for integrated back- end line assembly equipment. The order includes molding, in-line postmold cure, inspection, test, marking and trim and form equipment and is scheduled for installation in Focused Semiconductor's first wafer assembly/test facility in Hsinchu, Taiwan in the third quarter of 1998.
