DNC management steps down
The management of De Nederlandse Compagnie (DNC) has stepped down following a failed attempt to acquire the 62% interest in the company from Peace Noble & Bond, the investment vehicle of Mike Vredegoor. The management wanted to take over the stake along with 10 investors to expand into internet activities.

The Amsterdam stock exchange put a message on its website on Tuesday that it would suspend trading in De Nederlanden Compagnie (DNC) until Monday 9.00 AM. The message was dated Saturday January 15.

DNC cancels Van Caem acquisition
De Nederlanden Compagnie (DNC), formerly known as Koppelpoort, has cancelled its planned acquisition of trading house Van Caem Klerks. DNC was planning to pay for the acquisition with the proceeds of a share issue. The company said that the current bourse climate would not enable it to raise the necessary funds for the acquisition.

DNC expects net profit of NLG 6.5 mln for 1999
De Nederlanden Compagnie (DNC), formerly Kopperlpoort, expects for full-year 1999 turnover of some NLG 300 mln and a net profit of NLG 6.5 mln, or NLG 1.85 per share. Due to acquisitions and divestments of units DNC's first-half figures for 1999 are hardly comparible with the first-half of 1998. DNC reported on Friday net profit for the first-half of 1999 came to NLG 1.5 mln, compared with NLG 1.8 mln for the first-half of 1998.

DNC acquires Van Caem Klerks Group
DNC De Nederlanden Compagnie announced on Monday it has reached definitive agreement on the acquisition of trading firm Van Caem Klerks Group of Leiden. The transaction will be paid for partly in cash and partly in shares. DNC De Nederlanden Compagnie said the takeover of Van Caem Klerks is the first step in its strategy to expand towards an international trading firm.

Koppelpoort reports a net loss of NLG 3.9 mln for 1997. In 1996, the company booked a net profit of NLG 0.26 mln. Turnover increased from NLG 60.0 mln to NLG 67.4 mln. Operating result fell to a loss of NLG 1.3 mln, compared with a profit of NLG 0.6 mln the company booked for 1996. Losses per share NLG 39.49, compared with earnings per share of NLG 2.60 for 1996.
