Getronics sells stake in Getexo to Exel
Getronics has sold its 50% stake in Getexo, the Dutch provider of logistics preparation services, to UK supply chain management company Exel. Exel already owned the other 50% in Getexo. The transaction, which will generate a small book profit, will not have an effect on operating profit, Getronics said. The sale of the stake is in line with Getronics' strategy to sell hardware activities.

Getronics in South African deal
Getronics has entered a partnership with South African IT firm CS Computer Services Holdings. CS will take over Getronics South Africa, which employs 500 and has annual turnover of Euros 25m (Dollars 22.9m), to become Getronics' service partner in South Africa. Getronics did not disclose financial details of the deal but it has an option to take a stake in CS Holdings that it will decide on in coming weeks.

Getronics sees no effect on FY opg from Merkantildata profit warning
Getronics sees no effect on its annual operating result from the profit warning given on Thursday by affiliate Merkantildata ASA, a spokesman for the Dutch company said. Getronics holds a 10.7% stake in Merkantildata. Following a consultation with Merkantildata board member and Getronics chairman Pieter van Voorst, Getronics spokesman Herbert van Zijl said that the relationship between the two companies is "okay and growing", with the Scandinavian company increasingly serving Getronics' international clients in the region.

Getronics achieves scale in France through acquisitions of Decan
Getronics on Friday announced that it had reached agreement to buy Decan, the French Information Communication and Technology (ICT) solutions provider. The announcement delivers on Getronics' strategy of focusing and achieving scale in France as one of the top 5 ICT markets. Getronics reached agreement with Metamor Holdings France, a subsidary of PSINet,., to buy its stake in Decan, the French ICT solutions provider, representing 98.67% of outstanding shares and 99.58% of outstanding convertible bonds, for an aggregate amount of euro 58.5 million; euro 15.1 for each ordinary share and euro 120 for each convertible bond The agreement is subject to condition precedent in connection with the contractual obligations undertaken in the sale and purchase agreement, which is expected to be fulfilled within the next weeks.

EU to rule on Getronics, Hagemeyer ICT merger by April 2
The European Commission said it will rule on the merger of Getronics and Hagemeyer Dutch information and computer technology (ICT) hardware distribution units Datelcom BV and Codis BV by April 2 after the companies filed extra information. Getronics and Merkantildata announced on Thursday that Getronics intends to take a 20% interest in Merkantildata Invest, the independent corporate venture company of Merkantildata. Getronics H1 net profit down 32%
Getronics reported on Thursday net profit for the first-half of 2000 fell 32% to EUR 54.0 mln, compared with net profit of EUR 80.0 mln the company booked in the comparible period of 1999. Turnover increased 60% from EUR 1,195.0 mln to EUR 1,913.0 mln. Operating income fell 40% from EUR 108.0 mln to EUR 65.0 mln.

Getronics disappointed analysts and the Amsterdam stock market on Thursday by presenting much lower profits, sending the shares down more than 18% to EUR 14. The company is finding it hard to absorb Wang Global of the US, the company taken over last year and three times its size. Over the first half, earnings after taxes plummeted 69% from EUR 75 mln to EUR 24 mln, although sales grew 86.4% to EUR 1.91 bn.

Getronics eyes acquisitions in France, Germany

Information technology firm Getronics, the world's fifth biggest computer service provider, posted a 57% jump in first half net profit and forecast "further healthy growth" in the full year. Getronics, which bought US Wang Global earlier this year, reported a first half net before goodwill amortisation of EUR 80 mln (USD 85.2 mln) from 51 million a year earlier with strong spending in financial and telecoms markets.

Getronics will be met forecast for '98
Getronics said on Wednesday it is confident that it will meet full-year forecasts for '98. The announcement came during the presentation of third-quarter results for its 77% Scandinavian subsidiary Ark. When publishing its first-half figures, Getronics said full-year results would be in line with those over the first half year when profit rose 37% to NLG 147.9 mln on turnover up 23% to NLG 1.57 bn.

Getronics reports H1 net profit up 43%
Getronics reported on Thursday net profit for the first-half of 1998 increased with 43% to NLG 113.1 mln, compared with net profit of NLG 79.0 mln the company booked in the comparible period of 1997. Net profit was boosted by a one-off item of NLG 12.1 mln reflecting the reorganisation at its new Norwegian subsidiary Ark.

Ark Group H1 net doubles
Scandinavian Ark Group, in which Getronics holds a 77% shareholding, said on Thursday net profit for the first-half of 1998 doubled to NLG 13.6 mln from NOK 7.4 mln in the first-half of 1997. Turnover increased from NLG 309 mln to NLG 352 mln. Operating profit increased 43% from NLG 12.1 mln to NLG 17.3 mln.

Getronics takeover of KBB Retail Service finalised
Getronics has finalised the takeover of KBB Retail Service, a subsidiary of KBB. As a result of the takeover, Retail Service's employees are now employed by Getronics. Retail Service is providing ICT services for chains of speciality stores. With the takeover, Getronics has strengthened its position within the retail sector, the company said.

Getronics takes over Motorola Radio Systems
Getronics is taking over Hoofddorp-based Motorola Radio Systems from Motorola for an undisclosed sum. Motorola Radio Systems specialises in mobile communications and employs 14 people. MRS will be incorporated in Getronics' unit Koning en Hartman.

Getronics buys Grupo of Spain
Getronics announced today the acquisition of Control Presupuestario SA (Grupo CP) in Spain for an undisclosed sum. Getronics said Grupo CP belongs to the top 3 ICT companies in Spain. Grupo has 1,600 employees with net sales in 1997 of NLG 150 mln and net earnings of NLG 9.5 mln. In Spain Grupo CP has branch offices in Madrid, Barcelona and Seville and subsidiaries in Mexico and Portugal.

Getronics issue generates NLG 165 mln
The issue of 1.75 mln new shares in Getronics has raised some NLG 165 mln fresh capital, which will be used to refinance its takeover of Norway's Ark and for future acquisitions. The new share issue will increase the number of ordinary shares outstanding by around 2%. Getronics plans to reduce its current 88% stake in Ark to 75%.

Getronics reports net profit up 37%
Getronics reports net earnings for 1997 increased by 37% to NLG 180 mln, compared with NLG 131.6 mln the company booked in 1996. Net sales increased by 26% to NLG 2,777 mln. Due to improved operating margins, the operating result grew by 30% to NLG 236 mln. Due to a fractional increase in the number of shares outstanding, net earnings per share grew by 35% to NLG 2.05.

Getronics does not accept new 'year 2000' clients
Getronics will no longer accept new clients seeking help to tackle the year 2000 problem in computers. It will now advise only existing clients. Getronics says that any company which has not yet started adjusting its software is already too late.

Ark reports turnover of NLG 301 mln
Ark Group, the bourse listed Scandinavion ICT company in which Getronics holds a 88% stake, reports a turnover of NLG 301 mln for 1997, compared with NLG 215 mln the company booked in 1996. Profit before taxes rose with 38% at NLG 20.0 mln.
