Trips / Oostwold
From Lelystad to Oostwold On Friday, the weather outlook appeared nice for Saturday, and we booked the Piper G-WARH for the Saturday afternoon for a little flying trip. We were thinking of flying to Norden-Norddeich, and then perhaps a hop to one of the Frisian Islands, like Borkum or Norderney. As we could not reach Norden by telephone (it is PPR), we decided to fly to Oostwold first, and then see at Oostwold what our next hop would be. We took-off at about 12:30 from Lelystad to Oostwold.

From Oostwold to Hoogeveen We had left Lelystad somewhat later than we first aimed for. Because of the time, we decided to make our next hop to Hoogeveen, already on the route back to Lelystad. For Maurits and Veleda it was their first visit to Hoogeveen airfield. We took-off from runway 25 of Oostwold, and we landed at runway 09 of Hoogeveen. We had something to drink again, and then we went back to the plane.

From Hoogeveen to Lelystad After Hoogeveen, we flew back to Lelystad. The Netherlands recently welcomed its 17-millionth resident. The larger part of the Dutch population lives in what is called "De Randstad", which is rougly the densely populated area from Rotterdam to The Hague, to Amsterdam, and then to Utrecht. The whole of the Randstand only has one GA airfield; Hilversum, and on the far outside the GA airfields of Lelystad, Teuge and Seppe are located. We have a sparse airfield density comparible with Poland (it's true; look on a European airfields wall map). It can be very busy, from time to time, at Lelystad airport.
