Trips / Budapest
From Paderborn-Lippstadt to Mainz Finthen Carsten and Rene had arranged to meet at Koblenz on Saturday, April 29 2012, where Carsten was first going to make some flight time for his license renewal. Because we would meet in the afternoon, Rene made some short hops on the way to Koblenz, visiting Brilon-Hochsauerland, Breitscheid and Dierdorf. Upon arriving in Koblenz, we drove to the city with Reinhard (who had been flying with Carsten), where we met Maria, Roberto and Julia. We had a drink, and then Carsten and Rene went back with Reinhard to the Koblenz airport, and then Carsten and Rene flew to Mainz, where Maria, Roberto and Julia would drive to to pick us up again.
From Mainz-Finthen to Budapest, Budaors On Sunday we left early in the afternoon from Mainz-Finthen to fly to Budapest. We first flew to Linz, where we fueled. Then we flew to Gyor, where we also took in some fuel so we did not have to fuel again in Budapest, and then to Budaors airfield. We took a taxi to the hotel in Budapest, and had diner at restaurant I'Aranceto.
Budapest On Monday, after breakfast, we went sight-seeing Budapest. We crossed the Margaret Bridge (Margit hid) from the east bank of Budapest (Pest) to the west bank of the city (Buda). Then passing the Church of St. Anne (Szent Anna Templom), we walked to the Castle hill. Rene got himself pictured with the eagle at the very touristic Fisherman's Bastion. We walked across the Szechenyi Chain Bridge (Lanchid) to Pest, and then took the subway to the city park. We visited the site of the Vajdahunyad castle at the city park, and we had something to eat. In the evening we visited Margit island, where we also had diner. Later in the evening we had a drink at the rooftop club Corvinteto.
From Budapest to Mainz, and then to Hilversum On Tuesday morning, after breakfast, we took a taxi back to Budaors airfield, just south-west of the city. We first flew to Fertoszentmiklos, where we fueled and had a drink. Then we moved on to Vilshofen, across the border from Austria to Germany. Vilshofen is a beautiful little airport situated next to the Danube river. After lunch, we flew to Mainz where Rene said good-bye to Carsten and Maria. Then Rene flew to Hilversum.
