From Teuge to Berling Tempelhof via Braunschweig On Thursday, July 7, 2005, we started our trip to East Germany. Veleda was driving with Charlotte. Laurence and Maurits were flying with Rene. The first leg was from Teuge to Braunschweig. In Braunschweig we filed our flight plan for the next leg, and we heard about the subway bombing in London that happened that morning. At the run-up checks we discovered a too large drop in RPM on the left magneto alone, that we got fixed first (faulty spark plug).
From Berlin, Tempelhof to Jena On Sunday, July 10, 2005, we departed from Berlin, Tempelhof to Jena. On Monday, Rene had to fly back to Holland for work for business for three days to go to Paris, Amsterdam and London. In the morning, Charlotte and Maurits first joined for a sight seeing trip over Jena. The following days Jena, Weimar and Erfurt were visted. On Friday we made a flying trip to Altenburg.
Trip to Prague In the weekend, Charlotte, Laurence and Rene made a short trip to Prague. Because the Czech republic was not a Schengen country, we informed the local police by fax about our planned trip. The police showed up especially for us at the airfield at the time of departure to fulfil formalities. Upon returning from Prague in Jena, the police showed up again to check on us.
Back to Teuge The next day, July 18, 2005, we were to fly back to Teuge. Here a picture of the Piper Archer on the last night in Jena.
